Changes in the DANIEL'S PROPHECY book
by observador ini have been told that a number of changes has been made to the daniel's prophecy book between the first edition (or printing) and the latest edition of it.
the funny thing is that these changes are inconsistent among the media (paper book and editions of the wt lib cd).. so, if you get the daniel's prophecy book you have in your home and compare it to wt lib cd 2004, you will only be able to confirm some of these changes.
case 1: p. 101, line 1:.

Couldn't wait to get home and check this one out!
Just to confuse matters even more, my copy has the earlier version of case 1 and 2 and the rest of the cases are the later version.
The full sentence of case 1 reads:
'No enemy had taken Babylon by storm in over a thousand years'
Hope this helps!

What's Your View of Lying?
by minimus indo you generally lie?
do you think it's wrong to do?

My best friend has horrible taste in clothes. She's 35 and dresses like she's in the Golden Girls...she asks how do you like my new (insert ugly article of clothing here) and I will say...It's very nice but I like your (less ugly piece of clothing ) better.
Is that lying?
This is what I call being tactful rather than lying - you don't tell her it looks great, the plus point is that if she respects your opinion she'll gradually start getting clothes that do suit her. Hope that makes sense!
Wish I had friends like you.

need slogan, ideas please!
by pudd ini know this is not jw related but can i tap into your wealth of wisdom and talents please!
i work in a playgroup in a small village and we need to come up with a catchy/ humorous slogan to put on a banner on our float for the village festival parade this weekend.
the over all theme is medieval, and as a playgroup we are dressed as robin hood and maid marions.

hows about something simple like 'Robin Hood and his merry extras'?
For an interesting turn you could get Robin to dress in modern clothes and call it 'Robin Hoody and his merry extras'
can you tell I'm equally rubbish at thinking of slogans?
It's too late in the day - think my brains shutting down - I'll sleep on it!
Anything in the name of the playgroup or village that could be used to help it?

Did Gentile Christians celebrate holidays and stuff? Evidence?
by ithinkisee indoes anyone have some good references i can look up on some specific differences between gentile and jewish christians in the first century?.
the reason i ask is because i get the impression from the scriptures that the gentile christians probably even celebrated worldly holidays and attended pagan festivals still - while the jewish christians did not.
perhaps they even looked and dressed differently.

I remember seeing in one of St. Paul's letters his admonition not to eat anything sacrificed to idols. My knowledge of Greco-Roman religion is sketchy, but you could do some more research as to why Paul had to say that.
The reason was that most trades operated around the local pagan temple - so the butchers sold meat for sacrifices, carpenters carved the idols etc. When you became a Christian therefore, it really was a total change in the way of life because your conscience wouldn't allow you to do anything connected with idol worship and you would effectively go out of business as a result. Thats probably one reason why they stuck closer together and 'held everything in common' Sorry if the quote doesn't appear - I'm no good with computer stuff!

First Post
by 5thGeneration insome things confuse me here.
i am in the same position as many where i don't agree with so much the society says and feel stuck dragging myself to the meetings and then feel incredible guilt because the study for the day says it is wrong to have any doubts "even in private".
impossible for me!.

Welcome to the world of free thought and doubts 5thG!
I don't have a JW background but was raised in a church organisation with a similar MO so this is all I can really contribute:
It's NOT wrong to have doubts. Its only by having doubts and asking questions that we learn the real truth about anything in this life - so keep on doubting! Making you feel guilty is their way of keeping a grip on you by making you afraid of any other ideas.
God bless you on your journey to discovering the truth - whatever that may be for you.
